Job Title: Coordinator and
Working For: Reach All Women in WAR
(RAW in WAR)
Hours: 1 day/week (£80/day)
Coordinator/Communications Assistant plays an essential role in the
‘day-to-day’ running of RAW in WAR, a small human rights charity striving to
enhance the voices of women in areas of conflict. This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate
interested in the human rights field, and who wishes to gain experience and be
part of a unique and exciting NGO. Although this is not a full time role,
flexibility is required - especially in the run up to the Anna Politkovskaya
Award where extra days of work (fully paid) will be required, including the
occasional evenings and weekends.
Key duties include:
- Working directly with board
members on project related matters.
- Managing RAW’s social media
presence across multiple channels.
- Drafting copy for blog
posts, press releases, and newsletters.
- Ensuring the smooth running
of RAW’s website, and implementing the next phase of our website upgrade.
- Coordinating RAW’s Anna
Politkovskaya Award, held every October, and the organisation’s ‘Refusing To Be
Silenced’ panel events.
- Coordinating and supervising
RAW’s team of volunteers.
- Managing board and team
meetings, and providing monthly progress reports on work and future actions.
- Financial administrative
assistance, fundraising and general administration.
- Undertaking other ad-hoc
tasks when required.
qualification and experience:
- University degree in Human
Rights, International Development, International Affairs, Gender Studies (or
equivalent) and/or relevant practical work experience.
- One year minimum of
commitment to RAW (highly preferred).
- Motivated and passionate
about human rights - particularly the rights of women and girls.
- Excellent writing skills
(fluency in English).
- Editing and proof-reading
- Strong organisational
- Experience of working in
project administration and management.
- Experience in organising
- Experience in using social
media for professional purposes.
- Understanding of website
administration (extremely desirable).
- Additional languages (in
particular, Arabic and/or Russian) particularly desirable.
- Must be flexible, a
positive self-starter, and willing to work as part of a team.
