American journalist Marie Colvin is this year’s posthumous recipient of the Anna Politkovskaya Award. Marie reported on almost every major conflict in recent history, and was driven by her mission to bear witness to the suffering of civilians in conflict.

RAW in WAR (Reach All Women in WAR) annually presents the Anna Politkovskaya Award  to acknowledge the anniversary ofAnna Politkovskaya’s murder on 7th October 2006. The award is presented to a woman human rights defender from a conflict zone that stands up for victims of the conflict, often at great personal risk. Previous award winners include 2011 recipient Razan Zaitouneh, human rights lawyer & journalist (Syria) and Dr. Halima Bashir in 2010 (Darfur/ Sudan).
